About Us

Some dreams linger enough for one to find a way to live through them and find somebody to share them with when they come true. In getting to know each other we talked about our dreams and longings.

Darlene (50, Allagash, ME) reaches this point in her life with a yearning for a silver memory. Growing up in a small riverside community deep in the dense northern Maine woods light foot, as she was know in her childhood, saw a silver bullet piercing the road alongside the Allagash river. The impression made by this Airstream travel trailer passing by would ensued her since with an urge for the road. And became a recurrent dream questioning if there is something more in life than responsibility.

And I, Fernando (Oaxaca, Mexico, 35) talked about my dream of a journey to an utopia of place that is more like a paradise at the end of a long long road. The only place that I have seen, in pictures, that resembles what I see in my dream is Macchu Picchu.

We took to the road is the materialization of these two dreams that have many in common. They come together through the passion for photography and the necessity to cover ground. The difficulty of capturing a dream resides in the planning and executing of such an epic trip from Fort Kent, Maine to Macchu Picchu in the Peruvian mountains. Not so much in the technical ability to take a photograph which we have been doing for a long time now.

One element almost omnipresent in Darlene’s dream is the Airstream travel trailer, one of those old fashioned silver capsules that have become like collectibles. They are rare and sometimes overpriced; hard to find nuggets. After looking on line and traveled across the state a few times we found one at an affordable price in Milo, ME. The money to purchase our vessel came from a GIGANTIC yard sale, collecting cans and bottles, and other sales and raffles. The idea is to be able to sustain the trip by using alternative methods, to take to the road without having a budget but working on every stop to earn enough money to pay for gas and the essential expenses until the next stop.
